Easter Crochet Along (CAL): Creme Egg Crochet Covers

A photo showing a Cadbury's creme egg and 3 animal shaped crochet covers for them, a bunny, a lamb, and a chick.

Welcome to my Easter Egg CAL event!

I have designed these cute Easter animal covers to fit over a standard 40g sized Cadbury’s Creme Egg, measuring approximately 5cm tall by 3.5cm wide. These would fit Cadbury’s other flavours too, Caramel and Oreo, or other similar sized chocolate eggs.

These would make great little Easter gifts for kids and adults alike. They are quick to make and don’t use much yarn, so would be ideal for selling too!

If you don’t have any suitable sized chocolate eggs, you can still make these fun Easter egg shaped animals and use them as pencil toppers instead!

I have used Paintbox Yarns Simply Chunky (US Bulk Weight) acrylic yarn with a 5mm hook. Using chunky weight yarn makes them quick to whip up, and the acrylic fibre
allows some stretch for inserting and removing the chocolate eggs.

You only need a small amount of yarn to make these eggs, less than 20 yards per colour for each egg cover.

Easter Egg Animals / Crochet Creme Egg cosy or Pencil Toppers

There are 3 animals in the Easter Egg Animals set, a chick, a bunny, and a lamb. I’ll be releasing 1 animal pattern a week over the next 3 weeks as follows:

There will be separate instructions for making inserts to convert these egg cosies into pencil toppers. This will be released with the first Easter Chick pattern.

All crochet patterns from Hooked On Patterns are written using US crochet terms.
