FREE CROCHET HEADBAND PATTERN – CAL WEEK 2
Hello and welcome back to the second week of my Bathroom Set CAL! This week we have a free headband crochet pattern, perfect for keeping hair out of the way when using the face scrubbies (featured exclusively in the Bathroom Spa Gift Set PDF download). These headbands are also handy when applying make up.
WHICH YARN SHOULD I USE?
To make a matching gift set, I have used the same yarns for all of my bathroom set items. Drops Cotton Light, 50/50 cotton and polyester mix DK weight yarn. Continue using your personal choice of yarn for this CAL. If you are using Worsted (Aran) weight yarn, follow the guidance on measuring your work to ensure you achieve the right size. You can also use this crochet pattern to make a general everyday headband with any yarn you like.
You can find a great choice of yarns at LoveCrochet.com, they deliver worldwide too. This is an affiliate link which helps me make some crochet patterns free to view.
LADIES MAKE UP & CLEANSING HEADBAND – CROCHET TUTORIAL
You will only need to know a few basic US stitches to follow this pattern and make this textured crochet headband: (ch) chain, (sl st) slip stitch, (sc) single crochet, and (dc) double crochet.
We will also be to using (sc2tog) single crochet 2 together (a way of decreasing stitches) – hook through the st, yarn over and pull up a loop (2 loops on hook), hook through the next stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop (3 loops on hook), yarn over and pull through all 3 loops on hook.
You will need a total of approximately 30g/70yds of yarn. 25g/58yds of your main colour and 5g/12yds of your accent colour. You will also need a 5mm hook, a tape measure, yarn needle and scissors.
The finished headband is designed to fit an average ladies size head. It will measure 20″ in circumference. You can adjust the size if needed, guidance will be given within the pattern at the point of adjustment.
The texture of this piece is made up of alternating sc and dc stitches. Beginning ch1s do not count as stitches. Using your main colour, start by chaining 7,
sc in the 2nd ch from hook, sc in each remaining ch, turn (6)

Join to the other end of the main piece here. Fold the piece over and match up the last row of stitches of the main piece with your strap piece. Work through the back loop only of the strap piece and both loops on the main piece and sc to join together, continue sc both pieces together for each st (6) You can fasten off and finish here or continue to add the trimming detail.
Continue from the last st. ch1, and turn your piece over to work along the closest main piece edge. sl st evenly along the edge, following all the way to the base of the twist section. Turn and work along the edge of the other side of the twist section and continue all the way back to the strap. Fasten off and re-join on the other side of the strap. Repeat sl sts along the other edges all the way around, back to the strap again. Fasten off and weave in ends.
