How To Add Crochet Doll Hair - Adam Gonk

Here, I will guide you through how to add hair to your Adam Gonk dolls.

The hair is added using the same technique as used for the Santa Gonk beard. This tutorial includes step by step photos, and explains exactly how and where to attach your strands of hair.

This technique for adding hair can be applied to other crocheted dolls as well.

I have used Dark Brown yarn, with a few strands of Light Brown blended in. Of course, you can make your gonk hair any colour you like.

Start by cutting strands of yarn, a little longer than twice the length you want the finished hair. You will need a total of 30 strands. To make it easier to work into the body, use a smaller hook size. I have used a 3.5mm hook.

Step 1.

Insert your hook into the top closing circle of the Gonk’s head, and out through a gap around the ﬁrst round down. Fold one of the strands of yarn in half and pull the fold through to create a loop on hook. Pull both of the ends through the loop and pull tight.

Step 2.

Repeat all the way around this ﬁrst round, attaching a total of 6 strands.

Step 3.

We will now add strands to the next round down. Insert your hook through the ﬁrst round at the base of a previous strand, and out through a gap on the second round down. Attach a strand in the same way as before. Insert your hook into the same place again, coming out through the next gap along and attach another strand. Repeat to add 2 strands to the base of each of the previous strands, attaching a total of 12 strands.

Step 4.

Add a ﬁnal round, inserting your hook through the base of the previous strands and out through a gap on the third round down. Just add one for each of the previous strands, attaching another 12 strands.
