BUNNY GONK FREE CROCHET PATTERN – Toy Clothes

Hooked On PatternsYou can use a Nude Gonk, or any base you like for this outfit, as the body will be hidden. You can make your bunny costume in any colour, I have chosen Grey and White. I have also given my Gonk a White and Grey beard to blend in and double as a fluffy bunny belly.

This Easter Bunny costume is a one piece suit. We will start with the feet and join them as we work up the main onesie. Only the ears and tail will need sewing on separately.

Bunny Arms – Bunny Gonk free crochet pattern:

The armholes are made up of the skipped 5 st when working R20., the row edges of the following 3 rows, and the
opposite side of the ch2s made in R23.. Work in joined rounds again without turning.
R1. Join Grey yarn with a sc to the middle of the underarm (3rd of the 5 sts), sc x2 along underarm, sc x3 up along the 3 row edges on the side, sc x2 along the opposite side of the ch2 of R23., sc x3 along the other side row edges, sc x2 of the underarm, sl st to join (13)
R2.-R6. ch1, sc in each st, sl st to join (13 for 5 rounds) Fasten off Grey yarn leaving a long tail, bring the tail forward
and keep it on the outside of the sleeve for now, while we work the hand. We will use this for the dividing lines detail later.
R7. Join White yarn with a sc in the first stitch, sc x3, inc, sc, inc, sc, inc, sc x4, sl st to join (16)
R8. ch1, sc in each st, sl st to join (16)
R9. ch1, sc x4, dec x4, sc x4, sl st to join (12)
R10. ch1, dec x6 (6) cut yarn and pull the end through, using your yarn needle weave the end through the front loops of the last 6 sts and pull closed, weave in end to secure.
Using your yarn needle and Grey tail end to make three dividing stitches. Careful not to thread straight through the
hand, you need to carry the stitch across and come out the same side for the next stitch, so as not to block inside the hand area.
Repeat for the other armhole.

Bunny ears:

Bunny Gonk free crochet patternMake 2 as follows:
Using Grey yarn, start with a magic ring,
R1. sc x6 into mr, pull closed, sl st to join (6)
R2. ch1, inc x6, sl st to join (12)
R3. ch1, sc in each st, sl st to join (12)
R4. ch1, *sc, inc,* repeat between * a total of 6 times,
sl st to join (18)
R5.-R7. ch1, sc in each st, sl st to join (18 for 3 rounds)
R8. ch1, *sc, dec,* repeat between * a total of 6 times (12)
R9. ch1, sc in each st, sl st to join (12)
R10. ch1, sc x2, dec, sc x4, dec, sc x2, sl st to join (10)
R11.-R13. ch1, sc in each st, sl st to join (10 for 3 rounds) Fasten off leaving a long tail. Press the side with the joining seam inwards to fold the piece, dipping it in and making the curved ear shape.

Inner ear

Using Pink yarn, ch8, starting from the 2nd ch from hook, sc x6, 3hdc in the last ch. Now rotate to work around the end and along the other side of the starting chain, 2hdc in the other side of the same last ch st (on the other side of the knot of the slip knot), sc x2, sl st x4 (17) Fasten off leaving a long tail. Attach this piece onto the dipped inside of the ear, with a running stitch under the stitches of the piece, keeping the top of stitches showing as a decorative feature.

Attaching the ears

Bunny Gonk free crochet patternUse the Grey tail ends from the ears to attach to the hood. It will be easier to find suitable attaching points if you put the outfit on your Gonk. You can choose to have the ears pointing upright, or down as floppy ears, or even have one of each. For upright ears, fold the ends together inwards, to stiffen the base, before attaching into place. For the floppy ears, leave the ends flat as you attach to the hood.

Bunny tail:

Make a small pom pom using White yarn for the tail and attach to the bottom of the back.
