MERMAID TAIL & BIKINI FREE CROCHET PATTERN

Nude Eve Gonk Base:

Make a Nude Eve Gonk by following the instructions for Christmas Eve Gonk, using a Skin Tone coloured yarn throughoutMermaid Outfit Eve Gonk Crochet Pattern.
Skip the Dress Frills (R9.{a} and R21.{a}) and just work in the normal both loops throughout. Work joining your rounds to keep the shaping level and work continuous rounds from R22. as stated in the pattern.
Make your arms all in the same colour as well, skipping R5.{a} and working in both loops throughout. Join your arms to either side of the body positioning the top of arms with the 10th row down from the top.
Make your nose and position the middle with the 8th row down. You can add any hair style you like, or follow my instructions for Rainbow Hair below.
Use the same yarn weight and hook size as you used to make your Nude Eve Gonk for the mermaid outfit.

Crochet doll Rainbow Hair:

Mermaid Eve Rainbow Hair Free Crochet Pattern joinedFor best results, use a good quality acrylic yarn with tight, even, ply twists. You will need 6 rainbow colours, I have used Paintbox Yarns Simply Chunky in Rose Red (313), Blood Orange (319), Buttercup Yellow (322), Evergreen (330), Marine Blue (333), and Pansy Purple (347). Available from LoveCrochet.com ~affiliate link

Cut 3 strands of each colour, twice the length of your Gonk’s body.

Using a smaller crochet hook, hook through the centre of the tip of the head (in through the closing circle of the body) and come out in between posts of the top round of stitches starting towards the front of body.
Fold a Red strand in half and pull the middle through making a loop, pull both ends of the strand through the loop to secure (first strand attached).
Hook through, top down, around the body stitch directly below the first strand join. Attach the second Red strand in the same way.
Hook through, again top down, around the next body stitch directly below the second strand and attach the last Red strand.

Hook through the same place in the centre of the head again, coming out in between the next posts over and repeat the process with your Orange strands.
You will have a triangular gap between the colours as you join directly below the strands above. Repeat for the rest of theMermaid Outfit Eve Gonk Crochet Pattern colours, Yellow next, then Green, followed by Blue and finishing with Purple in the last space.
Once you have all the strands in place, gently unravel the plies of each strand of yarn. This will cover the gaps and give you fuller, curly hair. You can then trim to neaten off the ends.

TMermaid Outfit Eve Gonk Crochet Patternhe cups will sit with the longer edge at the top. Cut a strand of yarn long enough to tie in a bow around your Gonk and use your yarn needle to thread through the bottom tip, across the inside and through at the base of the inner gathered side. Carry on threading through the inner base of the second cup, through the inside and out through the bottom tip. Centre the cups on your strand and tie around your Gonk under the bust. Slide the cups into position. Take another strand of yarn. Thread through and tie on to the top tip of one of the cups, bring it around the back of your Gonk’s head and thread through the top tip of the other side. Pull to fit and tie in place. Trim and weave in ends.

If you prefer, you could just stitch the cups in place directly on to your Gonk.
